Lacrosse Advances to A-10 Championship, Tops St. Bonaventure on Senior Day

GW scores season-high 22 goals in rout
WASHINGTON – A season-high 22 goals powered GW lacrosse past St. Bonaventure, 22-11, on Senior Day. The win clinches the fifth seed for George Washington in this year's Atlantic 10 Championship, the second-straight postseason berth for the team. GW will match up with No. 4 Davidson on Thursday, May 4, at noon at VCU's Cary Street Field.
After an early 1-1 tie, GW scored four-straight to take the lead for the remainder of the contest. After a three-goal offensive spark for the Bonnies, GW responded with a pair of tallies to push its lead back to three.
GW allowed one St. Bonaventure goal at the 10-minute mark in the second quarter, but six unanswered goals from the Buff & Blue put GW comfortably ahead 14-6 at the break.
The Bonnies struck first in the third, but Katelyn Walker scored on a woman-up situation, with GW outscoring the visitors 4-1 in the remainder of the third quarter to equal its then-season-high 19 goals with a 19-8 lead heading into the final frame.
The offense didn't stop there for the Buff & Blue, with Whitney Moran, Walker and Kerry McKeever extending GW's lead to as many as 14. St. Bonaventure scored three-straight to close out the contest, but GW's prolific offense helped the team to its 22-11 victory.
NOTEWORTHY
- GW's 22 goals in a single game are tied for third-most in program history. The last time GW scored 22 goals was at Howard in 2013.
- McKeever and Moran led all scorers with six goals apiece, tying for second all-time in program history and the second time this season in which McKeever has scored six in a single game.
