WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse will close the regular season on Saturday, welcoming St. Bonaventure to the Mount Vernon Campus for Senior Day. Opening draw is scheduled for 1 p.m., with live coverage of the regular season finale available on ESPN+.Â
THANK YOU, SENIORS
On Saturday, GW will celebrate its graduating class of Amber Germer, Lizzie Heyn, Kerry McKeever, Whitney Moran, Brianna Vaughan, Katelyn Walker and Kianah Watson. Festivities will begin at approximately 12 p.m., followed by warmups ahead of opening draw.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
GW matched its season-high of 19 goals in a 19-11 win over Duquesne last Saturday. With the win, GW earned its fourth A-10 victory of the season, the most for the program since 2015. GW began the scoring early in the first frame and never surrendered its lead, highlighted by a fourth-quarter offensive spark with eight goals from five different goal scorers. The eight markers equaled GW's season high for most scored in a quarter. Kerry McKeever led all scorers with five goals, matching her season-high with 10 shots, putting eight on net. Overall, GW held the advantage in nearly every statistical category, including shots (43-26), shots on goal (33-19), ground balls (17-13) and draw controls (18-13). Â
WHAT A WEEK FOR WALKER
Perhaps the most noteworthy piece of GW's win over the Dukes was from senior attacker Katelyn Walker, who tallied her first career hat trick with three goals. Walker was credited with six assists, another career-high for her and good enough for second in program history for a single-game record. Walker also inked her name into GW's record book for third all-time with nine points in a single game.Â
MATCHING UP WITH ST. BONAVENTURE
St. Bonaventure is 6-10 overall and 4-4 in conference play in LeighAnn Stauffer's inaugural year with the program. Fiona McGovern leads the Bonnies' attack with 42 goals, fifth in the A-10, and 21 assists which is good for eighth in the conference. In net, Ashley Herrick is second in the conference with 141 saves, averaging 8.81 saves/game. Â
