PITTSBURGH – Behind a season-high matching 19 goals, GW lacrosse earned its fourth Atlantic 10 victory of the season at Duquesne on Saturday, with a commanding 19-11 win at Rooney Field. The Buff & Blue's four conference wins are the most for the program since 2015.
Behind a pair of helpers from Katelyn Walker, GW moved to an early 2-0 lead with goals from Everly Kessler and Kerry McKeever. The duo then scored again, and Whitney Moran pocketed her first goal of the game to put GW ahead 5-0. The Dukes got on the board on a free-position attempt to close the first quarter.
GW added four more goals in the second frame, allowing five goals for Duquesne, but GW's early lead helped the visitors sustain a 9-6 edge heading into halftime.
Both offenses were quiet in the third quarter, with the teams scoring two goals apiece and GW still leading 11-8.
The offensive spark for GW came in the fourth frame, with eight goals from five different goal scorers, including two from McKeever, Moran and Mowbray. The eight goals matched GW's season-high for most scored in a quarter. Duquesne added three goals to set the final score.
