Free cherry blossom headbands to be given out to GW students
WASHINGTON -Â GW lacrosse returns to the Vern on Saturday afternoon when it takes on Richmond. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. with coverage on ESPN+. As part of Buff & Bloom week, cherry blossom headbands will be given out to GW students while supplies last.Â
LAST TIME OUT:Â GW built a four-goal lead at intermission on Wednesday at William & Mary, but was held off the scoreboard in the second half in a 10-9 setback to the Tribe. Whitney Moran continued her recent tear with four goals while Emily Mowbray chipped in a pair as well.
MAKING STRIDES IN A-10 PLAY:Â GW enters Saturday having won consecutive A-10 games over George Mason and VCU the last two weekends. Sitting at 3-3 in league play, the Buff & Blue are looking for a fourth conference win, which would be the most for the program since 2015. A win on Saturday would give GW three-straight wins over A-10 foes for the first time since 2010.
A LOOK AT THE SPIDERS:Â Richmond enters play on Saturday at 11-3 overall and 5-1 in A-10 play following an 18-6 win over La Salle last weekend. The Spiders boast a dangerous offensive attack, ranking second in the A-10 and ninth nationally with 15.8 goals per game. Lindsay Frank (41 goals) and Colleen Quinn (36) rank second and third, respectively, in the conference in tallies this season.
