Lacrosse Welcomes Delaware State on Wednesday

Opening draw scheduled for 4 p.m.
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse returns to the Mount Vernon Campus on Wednesday for its first of two home contests this week, welcoming Delaware State for a 4 p.m. opening draw on ESPN+.Â
LAST TIME OUTÂ
The Buff & Blue fell at Davidson on Saturday in a narrow 12-7 loss at Richardson Stadium. Kerry McKeever led the GW offense with three goals for her third hat trick this season. Sophomore Amelia Moran netted two goals for GW, the first multi-score game of her GW career. Amber Germer and Whitney Moran tallied the other two goals for the Buff & Blue offense. Mia Caro made seven stops in net.Â
FIRST-YEAR PHENOM
First-year Stella Ray leads the Atlantic 10 in ground balls per game, averaging 4.60 per contest. Ray is third in the conference in caused turnovers per game, averaging 2.20/game, and leads GW's defense with 22 this season. Ray is second on the team with 23 draw controls, just one shy of the top mark held by McKeever. Ray is the only first-year who has started all 10 contests for GW so far this season.Â
SCOUTING THE HORNETSÂ
Delaware State is 2-7 overall, with its two wins coming in the season-opening pair of contests over Howard and Akron. Ebony Reddick leads the Hornet offense with 15 goals and Rossella Nardi and Gwenna Gentle have tallied 14 markets for the Delaware State offense this season. In net, Yeda Couto-Erickson has accumulated significant time for the Hornets, recording 51 saves for a .451 save percentage.Â
