McKeever pockets third hat trick of the season
DAVIDSON, N.C. – GW lacrosse came up short at Davidson on Saturday, falling to the Wildcats 12-7 at Richardson Stadium.Â
In what began as a slow offensive start for both teams, GW and Davidson matched each other's offensive output in the opening quarter with two goals apiece. Kerry McKeever and Amelia Moran scored the two goals for GW.Â
The Wildcats allowed just one goal in the second frame, this time coming from Whitney Moran. The home team tallied three goals to head into halftime up 5-3.Â
GW was outscored again in the third quarter, 4-1, with Everly Kessler finding McKeever for her second goal of the game, but GW found itself behind 9-4 heading into the final 15 minutes of action.Â
Back-to-back goals from GW courtesy of Amber Germer and McKeever trimmed the Wildcat lead to three, but three-straight goals from Davidson pushed the home team's lead back to six to put the game out of reach. Moran scored in the final 36 seconds of play, but Davidson would improve to 4-0 in conference play with the victory. Â
