McKeever tallies four goals to lead the GW offense
PHILADELPHIA – Powered by a season-high 12 goals, GW lacrosse picked up its first win of the season at La Salle on Saturday, topping the Explorers 12-9 for Head Coach Colleen McCaffrey's first win leading the program.
Emily Mowbray scored the first goal of the game in the first minute of play, sparking a GW offense that would pot a season-high five goals in the opening quarter to manage a 5-2 lead. Kerry McKeever scored the first two of her season-best four on the day and Haley Bolton scored a pair to build the lead.
GW and La Salle traded four goals apiece in the second quarter, with the Explorers cutting the GW lead to three heading into halftime at 9-6.
Back-to-back tallies from Whitney Moran and Bolton pushed the GW lead back to five and McKeever tallied her fourth of the day in the third frame to maintain the five-goal difference after La Salle netted another goal.
Despite being held scoreless in the final 15 minutes of play, GW's established lead proved to be enough, lifting the Buff & Blue over its Atlantic 10 opponent, 12-9.
