Gymnastics Hosts History in Season-High Finish

Katz named vault champion with career-high 9.900
WASHINGTON - On a night when GW gymnastics welcomed history-making Fisk University to the Smith Center, George Washington hit a new season-high with a 196.550. GW totaled the score with a season-high 49.175 on beam, 49.100 on vault, 49.100 on bars and 49.175 on floor.
Western Michigan topped the five-team field with 196.725, Bowling Green finished third with 193.975, Fisk finished fourth with 190.325 and Ursinus rounded out the field with 188.475.
Rachel Katz was named vault champion for the first time in her career, scoring a personal-best 9.900 in GW's first rotation. Kendall Whitman was crowned co-champion on floor with a 9.925, tying her season best.
In GW's beam rotation, all of GW's counted scores were season-highs or career-bests. Sarah Zois matched her career high with a 9.850, Whitman matched her season best with 9.825, Deja Chambliss posted a season-high 9.850, Anneliese Silverman added a season-high 9.875 and Marlee York added a career-high 9.775.
ROTATION ONE – VAULT (49.100)
Led by Katz's 9.900, GW began on vault, with Whitman and Chambliss adding a pair of 9.850s, Hannah Munnelly posting a 9.800 and York and Zois adding 9.700s.
ROTATION TWO – BARS (49.100)
GW moved to bars for rotation two, led by Libby Garfoot and Munnelly with two 9.850s. Chambliss added a 9.825, Katz registered a 9.800 and Silverman added a 9.775. Madi McMullen finished the bars lineup with an 8.925.
ROTATION THREE – BEAM (49.175)
GW's impressive beam lineup helped GW to its third-straight 49.000+ of the evening and Katz paced the lineup with a 9.775.
ROTATION FOUR – FLOOR (49.175)
GW finished the night on floor led by Whitman's dazzling 9.925. York matched her career high with a 9.850, Chambliss and Deana Sheremeta added a pair of 9.825s and Payton Lynch and Silverman recorded 9.750s.
