WASHINGTON – Looking for its fourth-straight A-10 win, GW volleyball heads to Loyola Chicago for a weekend series vs. the Ramblers with first serve on Saturday at 4 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. start on Sunday, with both matches available on ESPN+.
MIDWEEK WITH MASON
After falling behind two sets to one in Wednesday night's matchup vs. George Mason, GW won two straight sets that each went into extra points to top the Patriots 3-2 at Smith Center. Liv Womble led the GW attack with 23 kills, a career-best for the senior opposite. Maeve Loughran also reached a career milestone, tallying 39 assists to help the GW offense to 58 kills and a .255 hitting percentage.
CONFERENCE STANDINGS
With the win over George Mason, GW moved up three spots to third overall in the conference at week three of A-10 action. Dayton and VCU remain undefeated (5-0) in conference play, while GW and this weekend's foe, Loyola Chicago, are each 3-2, with GW at 6-10 overall and the Ramblers at 5-11.
MAKING STUFF HAPPEN
The Revolutionaries are second in the conference in blocks (133.5) and are third in the A-10, averaging 2.19 blocks/set, led individually by Kelsey Watkins with 49, good enough for sixth in the league. Watkins made seven stops at the net vs. the Patriots on Wednesday, a season-best for the middle blocker, and has tallied five or more blocks in five matches this season.
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS
Loyola Chicago's Anna Feldkamp and Bree Borum own the seventh and eighth spots, respectively, in the A-10 with their .289 and .288 hitting percentages. Karlie McNabb leads the team with 164 kills on the year, averaging 2.88/set. Feldkamp is second in the A-10 with her team-leading 60 blocks (1.13/set) and enters the weekend as the reigning Defensive Player of the Week after helping her team to a 2-0 weekend at Davidson with 16 blocks across the two matches, including three solo blocks and 13 block assists. She also contributed 15 kills, including nine kills behind a .529 hitting percentage in last Saturday's sweep of the Wildcats.
