Volleyball Falls at Loyola Chicago, 3-0

CHICAGO – Despite another offensively productive day for Liv Womble, GW volleyball fell in straight sets at Loyola Chicago on Saturday, 22-25, 19-25, 17-25.
BY THE NUMBERS
Womble paced the GW attack with a match-high 14 kills behind a career-best .545 hitting percentage. Womble tallied just two errors on 22 attempts and also recorded a team-leading six digs and one block. Brittany Myers added seven kills, helping the Buff & Blue to 36 kills on the day with a .277 efficiency. Maeve Loughran tallied 27 assists and five digs, while Sydney Stewart came up with three stops at the net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After the home team jumped to a 3-0 lead to start the match, seven ties ensued throughout the opening frame with Loyola Chicago narrowly out-hitting GW 11 kills to 10. The difference maker was the Ramblers' five service aces, a stat they would set a season-high in, tallying 12 on the day. With the efficient serve, Loyola Chicago took set one, 25-22.
A match-high .360 hitting percentage came in set two in favor of the Ramblers, despite the Revolutionaries matching the output with 13 kills of their own. Nine ties came in the second frame and five lead changes, with the Ramblers tallying three more service aces and finishing the set on a five-point scoring run to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
A pair of four-point scoring runs to begin set three helped the home team to a 9-5 lead before a seven-point rally came to push the advantage to 17-9. Four more aces fell for the Ramblers in the final set and GW tallied three service errors, helping Loyola Chicago to its fourth-straight victory.
