HOW IT HAPPENED
Seven ties began the opening frame, with the last tie coming at 13-13 before the home team went on a six-point scoring run to create separation from the Revolutionaries, who would then trail 23-15. An attack error halted the Ramblers' rally, but a kill and an ace helped to the 1-0 set advantage.
An early six-point scoring run from Loyola Chicago created a 10-5 lead for the home team in set two. The Ramblers out-hit GW 14 kills to eight and recorded three aces to comfortably take set two, 25-13.
Momentum continued for Loyola Chicago in set three, opening the third frame on a 4-0 run behind a GW service error and three-straight aces. Helped by four Rambler errors, GW kept it close in the early moments of the set, eventually tying the frame at 17 to force a Loyola Chicago timeout. A pair of kills and a GW error out of the timeout created three points of separation before the Revolutionaries tied the set at 21, 22 and 23 in an attempt to force a fourth set. A Rambler kill and a GW error helped Loyola Chicago to its 2-0 weekend over the Buff & Blue.
