Golf Ties for Eighth at Monterrey Collegiate Classic

MONTERREY, Mexico - GW golf wrapped up its fall campaign by playing host in the inaugural Monterrey Collegiate Classic at Club Campestre Monterrey. The Buff & Blue struggled in the opening 18, but bounced back with strong scores in the second and third rounds to tie for eighth.
After opening with a 9-over 296 on Friday, GW rattled off an 8-under 280 and a 9-under 279 to post two of the top-12 18-hole scores in program history. The 855 marks the seventh-best 54-hole score in program history. Four of the top eight marks came in this fall season.
Monterrey native Rodrigo Barahona led the Buff & Blue, firing a 6-under 66 in the final to finish in a tie for 20th with a 4-under 212. Barahona tallied nine birdies on Saturday's final 18, finishing third in the tournament overall with 18 birdies.
Jakub Hrinda posted an even-par 216 to finish tied for 28th, followed by Hugo Riboud (+1, T-31), Leo Xu (+4, T-44) and Manuel Barbachano (+7, T-48). Aksel Moe competed individually and shot a 2-over 218, thanks primarily to a second-round 68.
