Colonials and Explorers tip off at 7 p.m. Wednesday
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball wraps up its two-game road swing with the first of two visits to Philadelphia in February as it battles La Salle on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
ADAMS AT THE APEX
Brendan Adams has scored 50 points in GW's last two games, including a career-high 32 points last Wednesday vs. St. Joe's. Adams is 13 points shy of 1,000 for his career, entering play with 987 career points in 128 games split between UConn and GW. The graduate student scored 381 points during his 78 games with the Huskies (4.9 ppg), but has flourished with the Buff & Blue, scoring 606 points in 50 games (12.1 ppg).
Adams is averaging 17.5 ppg this year, an improvement of +9.3 that is the best in the A-10 among returners. Adams has already established career-highs in nearly every statistical category, including points, field goals and 3-pointers. He is also posting career-bests in field goal percentage, 3-point percentage, rebounding, and assists.
HISTORICALLY GREAT OFFENSE FOR THE BUFF & BLUE
GW sits second in the A-10 in field goal percentage, and ranks 50th nationally, shooting 47.2% from the field on the year. The Colonials are shooting at the best clip for the program since the 2004-05 team shot 47.6% from the field en route to an A-10 Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance.
GW is tops in the league (60th NCAA) in effective field goal percentage at 53.8% and second in scoring at 76.1 ppg. GW's 76.1 ppg is an improvement of 7.7 ppg over last year, and the highest for the Buff & Blue since the 2005-06 A-10 regular season champions put up 76.7 ppg. The Colonials have scored at least 75 points 12 times this season, holding a 10-2 mark in those games.
