Volleyball Drops Match at Bucknell, 3-1

GW looks ahead to pair of games on Saturday
LEWISBURG, Pa. – GW volleyball began play at the Bucknell Invitational on Friday night with a four-set loss to the host Bison, 27-25, 17-25, 14-25, 18-25.
BY THE NUMBERS
Liv Womble matched her career-high with 13 kills. Addie Feek registered eight kills behind a .429 hitting percentage and Tierra Porter tallied a season-high seven kills coupled with a team-leading .462.
Bella Bowman racked up 16 digs to lead GW's defense and Grace Allread dished out 13 assists to a GW team that registered 39 kills throughout the night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Four Bucknell errors and a kill from Porter helped GW to a 5-1 advantage in the first set at Davis Gym. From there came 11 ties, including a late four-point rally from the Bison that helped the home team to set point, but a kill from Womble tied the opening stanza at 24. A pair of Bucknell errors and a kill from Feek gave GW its first 1-0 start of the season.
GW maintained a three-point cushion throughout the early stages of set two, but a five-point scoring run gave the Bison the lead for good to even the match at a set apiece.
Momentum continued for the Bison in set three, putting together their most efficient set of the evening behind a .387 clip to take a one-set advantage.
In the final set, the Bison led by as many as six, but a late GW rally put together by a kill from Womble and a pair of aces from Bowman put GW within one at 18-19 with a chance to force a fifth set. However, six straight Bucknell points helped the host team remain undefeated at 4-0 this season.
