Volleyball Drops Match at Georgetown, 3-0

GW to host Coppin State on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball fell in straight sets to Georgetown on Saturday afternoon, 19-25, 20-25, 16-25.
BY THE NUMBERS
Liv Womble registered 10 kills to lead GW's offense and Tierra Porter continued to be a defensive wall at the net, tallying eight blocks to go along with seven kills. Porter now leads the team with 58 blocks this season. Bella Bowman recorded 21 digs to pace GW's back line. Grace Allread dished out 15 kills to GW's 28-kill offense and Dilara Elmacioglu added five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Six ties began set one before Georgetown gained a 10-7 advantage and continued to maintain a cushion thanks to a 15-kill set that would go on to be a match-high for the Hoyas.
An eight-point scoring run from Georgetown highlighted the early portion of set two, with the Hoyas controlling a 12-4 set lead. GW went on to outscore the home team 11-1 to gain the advantage at 17-15, but momentum swung back in favor of Georgetown, who rattled off five-straight points, including three-straight aces and a block to finish off set two.
Georgetown tallied the first three points of set three and would never surrender a lead in the final stanza to earn a 3-0 victory at McDonough Arena.
UP NEXT
GW will host Coppin State on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Smith Center before heading to Philadelphia next weekend for the Sheraton University City Invitational hosted by Penn.
