Wiesemann, Marinkovikj and Vesikallio Earn Atlantic 10 Postseason Honors

Women’s tennis trio helped GW to semifinal appearance in the A-10 Championship
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Stella Wiesemann, Katarina Marinkovikj and Alexandra Vesikallio of GW women's tennis have received All-Conference honors, the Atlantic 10 announced on Tuesday.
Wiesemann and Marinkovikj picked up All-Conference First Team honors after being the team's top two singles performers this season. Vesikallio earned her first All-Conference nod with a spot on the A-10's Second Team.
Wisemann led GW with a 16-4 singles record at the No. 1 flight and a 10-8 doubles mark playing at the top two spots. The Jena, Germany, native went undefeated at the Atlantic 10 Championship, tallying three singles wins and a pair of doubles victories to help her team to a semifinal appearance vs. No. 3 Fordham. Wiesemann was named A-10 Player of the Week on April 25.
Marinkovikj earned postseason recognition for the second time in her career after posting a 15-4 singles record at the No. 2 spot. The senior from Skopje, Macedonia, went 11-8 in doubles play in the No. 1 flight. Marinkovikj posted a 7-1 singles record in conference play throughout the regular season and continued her impressive performance going 3-0 in both singles and doubles at the A-10 Championship.
Vesikallio played at the No. 3 spot with an 8-9 record in singles play and a 10-10 mark in doubles action. One of the senior's most notable wins came in the Atlantic 10 Championship, when she secured a three-set singles win to help her team to a comeback victory vs. No. 2 UMass to advance to the semifinal matchup.
