Women’s Tennis to Face Rhode Island in First Round of A-10 Championship

First serve is scheduled for Wednesday at 11:30 a.m.

GW women's tennis will begin its quest for an Atlantic 10 title on Wednesday when it faces Rhode Island in the first round of the Championship bracket. First serve from the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., is set for 11:30 a.m.

GW enters as the No. 7 seed and Rhode Island is No. 10. The winner of Wednesday's match will meet No. 2 UMass on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

REGULAR-SEASON RECAP
The Buff & Blue own a three-match win streak heading into Wednesday and finished the regular season 9-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Stella Wiesemann and Katarina Marinkovikj lead the team with 13 and 12 singles wins, respectively. In addition, GW's singles play has won all of its respective points in straight sets in its last three contests.

GW has won eight of its last nine doubles matchups, with Marinkovikj and Alexandra Vesikallio and Wisemann and Charlotte Bell staying undefeated to help the Buff & Blue to their three wins.
