Baseball Crushes St. Bonaventure, 12-1

ARLINGTON, Va. - George Washington baseball struck early against St. Bonaventure on Friday, but the story of the Colonials' A-10 opener was starter Harrison Cohen, who struck out a career-high 11 Bonnies while allowing just four hits in GW's 12-1 victory.
From the moment Cohen took the mound, the redshirt senior was feeling it. He set down the first 17 batters he faced and took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before finally allowing his first single. Early on, the Bonnies struggled to even make contact on Cohen's pitches, as he sat down six of the first nine batters on strikes to start the game. In total, Cohen cruised through eight innings and allowed just five baserunners.
Cohen would get all the run support he would need in the bottom of the first. GW put up a four spot against the Bonnies thanks to a pair of hits from Cade Fegus and Steve DiTomaso, and an RBI double from Logan Leax. As Friday's game went on, GW continued to chip away at the Bonnies' relief pitching, scoring seven runs in the final three innings on the way to the win.
GW ended the afternoon with 16 hits, marking the fourth-straight game GW has had double-digit knocks. Five of the Colonials' 16 hits were for extra bases, including a homer to left by Joe Biancone in the sixth. Additionally, every Buff & Blue batter reached base at least once on Friday.
Up next, George Washington will face off with the Bonnies in game 2 on Saturday afternoon. GW will be honoring the 1992 and 2002 A-10 Championship teams before and during the game, so fans are encouraged to arrive at Tucker Field early in order to take part in the festivities. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. and coverage will be available on ESPN+.
