Germer notches second career four-goal game
WASHINGTON - GW lacrosse scored six goals in the opening quarter on Saturday afternoon vs. visiting Longwood, setting the tone for a convincing 14-4 triumph over the visiting Lancers at the GW Lacrosse Field.
After allowing the opening tally, GW scored six goals in the span of three minutes to seize control. Amber Germer started the spree with 4:57 remaining and following a marker from Kendall Lambert, scored again less than a minute later to make it 3-1.
GW pushed the lead to 9-2 by halftime and cruised in the second half for the double-digit triumph, playing with a running clock for nearly the entirety of the fourth quarter.
Germer ultimately potted four goals on Saturday afternoon, tying her career-best from last March. She was one of five multi-goal scorers for the Colonials on the day, joined by Lambert, Tori Hampton, Katelyn Walker and Lizzie Heyn.
Emily Mowbray had a goal and two assists as part of a three-point day, helping lead the Buff & Blue to significant statistical edges in nearly all categories. GW outshot Longwood 32-17, forced 24 turnovers and held a 24-10 advantage in ground balls.
Megan Patrick earned her first win of the season in net, making eight stops while posting a season-best .667 save percentage.

With the non-conference portion of its season complete, the Colonials will now open up A-10 play on Friday at Davidson. Opening draw is set for 6:30 p.m.
