Lederman and Aaron combine for four scores
WASHINGTON – GW lacrosse dropped a 12-8 decision to Kennesaw State in its first of two home contests this week at the Mount Vernon Lacrosse Field.
Katie Lederman and Bailey Aaron scored two goals apiece to lead GW scorers, while Alana Greene, Emily Mowbray, Tori Hampton and Kendall Lambert tallied one goal each.
The Owls opened up the scoring 30 seconds into the contest, but their tally was quickly matched thanks to Greene's goal with Hampton on the assist. Kennesaw State held GW to one goal for the remainder of the first half, netting five more goals in the first and second quarters to head into halftime with a 6-1 lead.
GW's offense began to roll in the first five minutes of the third quarter, scoring three quick goals to KSU's two. Now trailing 8-4, GW's offense rattled off three in a row, making it a one-score game in the final 12 minutes of play. KSU's leading goal-scorer, Siena Gore, scored a quick pair to create separation before Lederman struck again to get GW back within two. Two more KSU goals put the contest away, lifting the Owls to 6-4 on the season.
In net, Megan Patrick made her fifth start of the season and recorded 10 saves.
