Buff & Blue to compete at UVA & JMU
In its final weekend of competition ahead of the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championships, GW swimming and diving is set to send representatives to a pair of multi-day meets.
A contingent of swimmers will be in action at Virginia's Cavalier Invitational running Friday through Sunday, while the divers will head to James Madison for the Duke Dog Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
Rodgers was named A-10 Performer of the Week after charging to victory with season-best times in the 200 free (1:42.92) and 500 free (4:36.33) and also touching first in the 200 fly (1:52.81) vs. the Hoyas.
Doak topped both diving events, highlighted by a season-best score of 282.98 on 3-meter to qualify for NCAA Zones on that board. Already qualified for Zones on 1-meter, the junior posted a score of 246.98 there at Georgetown's McCarthy Pool.
A LOOK AT THE CAVALIER INVITE: A select group of Buff and Blue swimmers will race at the three-day meet vs. host UVA, Pittsburgh, JMU, Richmond, William & Mary and Johns Hopkins. All three days begin with prelims followed by evening finals at the UVA Aquatic & Fitness Center.
A LOOK AT THE DUKE DOG INVITE: The two-day meet includes competitors from host JMU, Virginia and George Mason. Beginning on Saturday afternoon at Savage Natatorium, the divers will compete in prelims followed by finals on both 1-meter and 3-meter.
Last February, the Buff and Blue competed at this meet, highlighted by a win for Spencer Bystrom on 3-meter. Caitlin Inall led the women on both boards that weekend.
UP NEXT: The A-10 Championships run Feb. 16-19 at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. At the meet, the men will be chasing a repeat title and their fifth win in six years with the women aiming for their second crown in three seasons.
