Opening draw in Baltimore scheduled for noon
WASHINGTON – Before opening its home slate next week, GW lacrosse will head to UMBC on Saturday for a noon matchup against the Retrievers.
LAST TIME OUT:Â GW will seek its first victory of the season on Saturday after dropping its opening two games, most recently a 12-7 loss at Villanova. Former All-Rookie honoree Bailey Aaron tied her career-high with four goals on Wednesday, scoring on all but one attempt she put on net.
IMMEDIATE IMPACT: GW continued to see production from its first-year class at Villanova, with Ashley Geyer scoring her second goal of the season in her first career start. Emily Mowbray, a first-year from Phoenix, Md., was integrated into GW's starting lineup after coming off the bench at Navy. Mowbray scored her first goal of the season and also caused two turnovers. Defensively, Brynn Cohen and Katie Hipp made their second consecutive starts, and Yasmin Pang saw action for her second appearance in Buff & Blue.Â
SCOUTING UMBC: The Retrievers are coming off a 17-9 win at American last Saturday, moving to 2-1 on the early season. Claire Bocksite netted six goals against the Eagles and is second on the team with 12 goals. Two-time America East weekly award winner Dymin Gerow has tallied 13 goals this season after scoring a season-best seven at American.
