Aaron ties career-high with four goals
VILLANOVA, Pa. – Sophomore Bailey Aaron tied her career-high with four goals in a single game, but the effort would prove to be not enough as GW lacrosse fell to 0-2 after a 12-7 loss at Villanova on Wednesday.
Aaron took a team-high six shots, scoring three times in the opening two quarters of play before netting her fourth goal in the game's final minutes. First-year Ashley Geyer opened up the scoring for GW, scoring her second goal in as many games on a man-up opportunity in the first four minutes of play. Villanova went on a 3-0 run before the two teams traded goals at the end of the opening quarter, with the Wildcats in front at 4-2.
Maddy O'Brien scored her second goal of the season in the second frame off an assist from Alana Greene. Villanova would head into the break with a narrow 6-4 edge over the visitors.
Goals from Emily Mowbray and Aaron cut into the Villanova lead in the third quarter, but the Wildcats went on a 3-0 run to gain its largest lead of the afternoon at 11-6 with four minutes left in regulation, helping the home team earn its first win of the season.
As a team, GW took 27 shots, putting 17 on net. In addition, GW tallied 10 total draw controls, with Aaron responsible for a team-leading three.
