Three Colonials pick up first RBIs of the season
For the second straight afternoon, GW struck first against UTRGV. Tim Nicholson led off the game with a double, before coming around to score on a groundout two batters later.
For the second straight game, though, the Colonials were unable to hang on to the lead for longer than a half inning. Justin Solt gave up a leadoff single and a walk to start the bottom of the first, before giving up a three-run homer to UTRGV left fielder Brandon Pimentel. Solt took the loss, giving up five runs in just an inning of work.
Despite the lopsided score, GW's bats continued to make contact throughout the day. The Colonials ended Sunday with a season-high 10 base knocks.
Next up, the Colonials will continue their road stretch to start the season with a three-game series at South Carolina. First pitch for the series opener against the Gamecocks will be Friday at 4 p.m.
