Colonials and Dukes square off at 7:30 p.m. in first of two meetings this year
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball finishes a three-game stretch away from home with a trip to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne Wednesday. Tip is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
STUFF THE STAT SHEET: Ricky Lindo Jr. was everywhere for the Colonials on Saturday at Dayton with 10 points, nine rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Lindo has now recorded at least three steals and three blocks in the same game five times this year, doing so for the first time since Jan. 11 on Saturday. The senior also grabbed at least nine rebounds for the 10th time this season.
Lindo has been GW's Swiss Army knife this year and is the only player in the A-10 to rank among the league's top 10 in defensive rebounds per game (5.8, 3rd), rebounds per game (7.5, 4th), steals per game (1.7, 8th) and blocks per game (1.8, 8th).
STARK CONTRAST: Saturday's setback underscored GW's distinct performance in wins vs. losses this season. The Colonials are averaging 73.4 ppg, shooting 45% from the floor and 35% from beyond the arc in wins this season compared to 61.4 ppg, 40.4% from the field and 30.1% from deep in losses.
Defensively, GW is allowing almost nine more points in losses (75.4 ppg vs. 66.9) and yielding 35.7% from 3-point land compared to 27.1% in victories.
ALL-CONFERENCE CALIBER: James Bishop saw his streak of five straight 20-point games come to an end on Saturday at Dayton when he provided 10 points in 29 minutes of action. During the five-game torrid stretch, Bishop averaged 26.4 ppg, shot 48.3% (42/87) from the floor, 44.1% (15/34) from beyond the arc and 80.5% (33/41) at the charity stripe. The Baltimore native has still scored double figures in seven consecutive games and done so 19 times in GW's 23 contests so far this year.
Bishop is now second in the A-10 in scoring at 17.7 ppg after finishing second in the league last year with 19.1 ppg. The junior is leading the A-10 in scoring in conference games with 19.6 ppg.
A LOOK AT THE DUKES: Duquesne, the sixth-least experienced team in the country, plays its third game in five days on Wednesday after setbacks vs. Fordham on Saturday (65-54) and at Davidson on Monday (72-61). The Dukes have lost 10 straight games after opening their A-10 slate with a win at UMass and sit in last place in the A-10 standings.
