Two more school records fall as Colonials put forth strong showing at the BU Valentine's Invitational and VMI Invitational
Another weekend, another impressive performance by the George Washington women's indoor track team. This weekend, the Colonials split up to take part in a pair of invitationals up in Boston and down in Lexington, Va. The results stayed the same though, as GW saw two more school records fall over the weekend.
GW's weekend began on Friday at the BU Valentine's Invitational, hosted by Boston University, and it took just two events before the Buff & Blue made history once again. Kathryn Nohilly was the first to break a school record on Friday for GW, finishing the mile in a record time of 4:49.58. Nohilly beat previous record holder Suzanne Dannheim's mark by over three seconds.
Just one event later, it was Brittany Wilkinson's turn to set another Colonials' record, this time in the 800m. Wilkinson, who already set a school record in the 400m this season, doubled up her name in the record book when she finished the 800m in a time of 2:15.43.
GW continued its weekend on Saturday at the VMI Invitational, hosted by the Virginia Military Institute. The Colonials saw continued success and new opportunities from Lexington, as two personal best times were set and five racers made their event debuts across GW's three events.
Up next, GW will look to take its record-smashing momentum into championship success when it participates in the A-10 Indoor Track Championships the weekend of February 26.
