Colonials remain on the road at Duquesne Wednesday
DAYTON, Ohio - GW men's basketball encountered a hot-shooting Dayton squad on Saturday afternoon at UD Arena and was never able to compare in an 80-54 setback.
Dayton burst out to a 14-2 lead five minutes into the contest and never looked back. The Flyers hit eight of their first nine from the floor and shot 70% in the opening 20 minutes, including a remarkable 8-of-11 from beyond the arc.
UD finished the day shooting 62.3% from the floor and hit 10 3s, never letting the lead drop below 10 in the final 35 minutes. Kobe Elvis led four Flyers in double digits with 13 points.
The Colonials were flummoxed on the offensive end, being held to 38% from the floor, the lowest mark since Jan. 11. GW was just 6-of-24 from beyond the arc.
James Bishop and Ricky Lindo Jr. were the lone Colonials in double digits with 10 points apiece. Lindo finished a rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards on the afternoon.
GW will look to even its A-10 record at .500 on Wednesday when it travels to Pittsburgh for a matchup with Duquesne. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
