GW finishes second in dual meet with No. 2 Sooners
NORMAN, Okla. – George Washington gymnastics embarked on its farthest road trip of the season on Friday, with a visit to No. 2 Oklahoma. GW posted a 194.925, placing second to the host Sooners, who finished with a 197.425.
GW earned its fifth 194.000-plus of the season behind event scores of 48.825 on vault, 48.575 on bars, 48.700 on beam and 48.825 on floor.
Rachel Katz earned a career-high 9.800 on bars in the opening rotation at Lloyd Noble Center. Deja Chambliss posted a 38.900 in the all-around, highlighted by a 9.875 on vault and a 9.900 on floor, earning her a pair of third-place finishes in the events.
ROTATION ONE
GW took to bars for rotation one, led by Katz with her career-high 9.800. Olivia Raymond and Simone Banen added a pair of 9.725s and Libby Garfoot posted a 9.700. Olivia Zona scored a 9.625 and Chambliss rounded out the bars lineup with a 9.000.
ROTATION TWO
The Buff & Blue headed to vault for their second rotation. Chambliss led with a 9.875 while Sarah Zois and Katz registered matching 9.775s. Marlee York added a 9.750 and Kendall Whitman and Hannah Munnelly earned 9.650 and 9.550, respectively.
ROTATION THREE
GW moved to floor for its third rotation with co-captains Chambliss and Zona leading the lineup with a 9.900 and a 9.825, respectively. Raymond added a 9.775 and Payton Lynch recorded a 9.725. York tallied a 9.600 and Whitman posted a 9.550 to wrap up rotation three.
ROTATION FOUR
GW finished the night on beam led by Zois with a 9.800. Katherine Shek added a season-best 9.775 and Anneliese Silverman and Chambliss contributed a pair of 9.725s. Whitman posted a 9.675 and Banen registered a 9.450 to complete the beam lineup.
UP NEXT
GW will compete in a pair of meets next weekend, visiting Pittsburgh on Sunday, Feb. 20 before heading to West Virginia on Monday, Feb. 22. Sunday's meet is set for 2 p.m. with New Hampshire and march-outs on Monday will begin at 7 p.m. in a tri-meet with William & Mary.
