Women's Indoor Track Continues Strong Start At Patriot Games

The Colonials take home first and second in two events, record seven top-10 finishes
FAIRFAX, Va.- GW women's indoor track continued its torrid start to the season at the Patriot Games hosted by George Mason, taking home seven top-10 finishes, including a pair of top-two finishes in the 1-mile run and the 1000m dash.
Friday night, grad student Allison Horwitch started the Colonials off on the right foot, finishing seventh in the 5000m run with a time of 18:24.72. Horwitch shattered her own personal record in the event by a full minute.
On Saturday, the Buff & Blue reigned supreme in a pair of events. Graduate students Julia Dempsey (5:04.23) and Margaret Coogan (5:05.76) took first and second in the 1-mile run, before Brittany Wilkinson followed up her record-breaking performance at the Keydet invitational with a first-place finish in the 1000m dash. Coogan finished right behind Wilkinson, giving her two second-place finishes on the weekend.
The Colonials are off from competition next weekend and will return on Feb. 11-12 at the BU Valentine Invitational.
