The city has also reinstated the indoor mask mandate and GW staff will be enforcing this policy for all events at the Charles E. Smith Center.
BISHOP GOES FOR 30: Junior guard James Bishop recorded his first career 30-point game on Wednesday at Saint Louis, eclipsing his previous best of 29 vs. George Mason in last year's A-10 Championship. Bishop scored 20 of the 30 in the second half, hit on 4-of-7 3-pointers and made 8-of-9 from the free throw line. The Baltimore native provided the 10th 30-point game in the A-10 this season.
In program annals, Bishop's 30-point performance is just the seventh for a Colonial in the last 15 seasons and the first...
...overall since Maceo Jack (35) vs. Davidson in 4OT on 1/23/20
...in regulation since DJ Williams (30) vs. Fordham on 1/30/19
...on the road since Maureece Rice (30) at UMass on 1/10/07
HOME COOKING: After playing four of its first six conference games away from Smith Center, GW will now play three straight at home this week. GW is 4-3 in D.C. this season compared to 2-9 away from home. Notably, Joe Bamisile and Brayon Freeman have enjoyed the friendly confines, averaging 17.0 ppg and 11.3 ppg, respectively, at home compared to 13.5 ppg and 7.4 ppg on the road.
As a team, GW is allowing 67.3 points per game on the Smith Center floor compared to 74.1 ppg on the road. The Buff & Blue also have committed 1.6 fewer turnovers per game at home and hold a +1.9 turnover margin compared to -0.1 on the road.
LOCKING DOWN THE 3: GW has been impressive in its last four games in 3-point defense, limiting George Mason, Saint Joseph's and Rhode Island to a combined 16-of-71 (22.5%) showing. The Colonials are 30th in the country, and second in the A-10, in allowing opponents to shoot just 29.7% from downtown this season. The Colonials have not held opponents below 30% from beyond the arc since 1997 when they finished 15th in the country at 29.7%.
GW has also limited the opportunities with just 32.3% of the opponents' shots coming from deep, 45th nationally. The end result has been opponents getting just 24.0% of their points from deep, the 18th-fewest in the NCAA.
A LOOK AT THE RAMS: Fordham visits D.C. under new head coach Kyle Neptune for the first time with a 9-9 record and a 2-4 mark in A-10 play. The Rams started league play 2-0 for the first time ever, but have lost four straight games since, most recently at Dayton (68-61) on Tuesday.
Darius Quisenberry, a Youngstown State transfer, has guided the way for Fordham with 17.9 ppg, second-most in the league. Quisenberry is the reigning A-10 Player of the Week and is averaging 21.0 ppg vs. league competition. Chuba Ohams averages a double-double with 13.8 ppg and 11.4 rpg.
The Rams have relied heavily on the long ball during conference play, with 43.4% percent of their shots coming from beyond the arc, and 43.1% of their points coming from 3-pointers, most in the league.
