Gymnastics Visits NC State on Saturday

GW to face NC State, New Hampshire and William & Mary
WASHINGTON – For the second weekend in a row, the GW gymnastics team will head to North Carolina, this time visiting Raleigh, N.C., for a Saturday quad meet with NC State, New Hampshire and William & Mary. March outs from Reynolds Coliseum are set for 4 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: GW earned a 194.825 in last weekend's quad meet at North Carolina with Missouri and Brown, propelling the group to No. 35 overall in the Road to Nationals rankings. Graduate student Deja Chambliss earned first on floor after recording a new career-high 9.925. In addition, GW improved its team scores from week one in three events, scoring a 48.950 on vault, a 48.500 on bars and a 48.625 on beam.
NEW TO BUFF & BLUE: First-years Rachel Katz, Marlee York and Sarah Zois have been key pieces to GW's lineups in each of the team's first two meets. Zois set a new personal best on vault at North Carolina, with a 9.800. Also at North Carolina, the Crofton, Md., native took to beam for the first time in her collegiate career, earning a 9.725. York and Katz have each been two-event contributors, recently helping GW post its season-best 48.950 on vault.
PREPARING FOR THE PACK: NC State was picked as the EAGL preseason favorite in December. With two meets under their belt, the Wolfpack are undefeated after a first-place finish in their season-opening quad meet with Rutgers, North Carolina and New Hampshire. The Pack edged Towson in a dual meet on Jan. 22 and check in at No. 26 on the Road to Nationals rankings.
A LOOK AT THE TRIBE: With a 190.531 team average, William & Mary currently ranks 60th in the country. The Tribe opened their 2022 campaign with a pair of meets, including GW's Lindsey Ferris Invitational, where they finished third.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: New Hampshire sits at No. 44 nationally, averaging a 194.108. The Wildcats earned a season-high 196.450 in their tri-meet victory over Temple and Penn. After recording career-highs on beam and floor, Alyssa Worthington enters Saturday as the reigning EAGL Specialist of the Week.
THE ROAD AHEAD: GW will return home next week for its annual Pink Meet on Sunday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. Sunday's quad meet with LIU, Eastern Michigan and Kent State will mark the first time since 2020 that fans will be in attendance. Tickets for Sunday's meet are available to purchase here.
