LEXINGTON, Va- GW women's indoor track entered its season opener at the VMI Invitational this weekend looking to build upon the program's historic cross country season, and it did not disappoint. The Buff & Blue runners came away with six top-10 finishes on Friday and Saturday, and a pair of personal records, including Brittany Wilkerson, who set a new school record in the 400m with a time of 1:00.21.
Wilkerson, who finished fifth in her competition, set the tone for the rest of GW's runners on Friday morning, and the team's success continued over to Saturday, when grad student Julia Dempsey placed third in the 3000m, followed by Allison Horwitch and Catherine Ruffino, who also finished in the top-10.
Finally, a pair of Colonial sophomores made their event debut in the mile competition on Saturday, as Claire McDonnell and Kenzie Konyar placed seventh and eighth.
