Womble, Pintel and Yohannes lead GW offense
LOUISVILLE – GW volleyball dropped its final match of the Bellarmine Tournament on Saturday morning with a straight-set loss to the Tennessee State Tigers, 19-25, 17-25, 21-25.
Addie Feek quickly got GW's offense rolling in set one with back-to-back kills. The Tigers then took advantage of four GW errors to take back the lead for good at 8-4. Sarah Pintel and Salem Yohannes led the offense in set one with three kills apiece.
Two five-point Tiger rallies in set two helped TSU take a two-set advantage.
In set three, it was GW's turn to take advantage of some Tiger miscues. GW held a 14-11 lead behind three kills from Pintel (2) and Yohannes (1) and four Tiger attack errors. TSU then went on a run of its own to regain the lead at 21-16. Despite the five-point deficit, the Buff and Blue rattled off four in a row, but the comeback would fall short. The Tigers tallied four late kills to put the match away.
UP NEXT: GW will play in a midweek matchup vs. Coppin State on Wednesday night at 5 p.m.
