Women’s Tennis Set for Fall Debut

Buff & Blue head to Bedford Cup
WASHINGTON – GW women's tennis opens its fall tournament schedule this weekend at the Bedford Cup in College Park, Md., starting on Friday.
BACK FOR MORE: Reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Year Stella Wiesemann returns for GW after a breakout season in the spring. The Jena, Germany native was also selected to the All-Conference First Team after finishing the spring season with a 9-4 singles record at the No. 1 position.
Lindsay Thompson is back for her sophomore season after picking up an All-Conference Second Team honor in the spring. Thompson went 5-8 in singles play and 10-6 in doubles.
Katarina Marinkovikj and Lara McNaughten return to the Buff & Blue lineup after missing the spring season.
ACROSS THE NET: Along with GW, the 14-team field includes VCU, Maryland, Howard, Morgan State, Virginia Tech, George Mason, Georgetown, Delaware, Towson, Loyola Maryland, Coppin State, James Madison and NJIT.
FORMAT: The format for singles play will be six compass draws made up of 16 players. Doubles play will be three compass draws made up of 16 doubles teams.
GW's doubles pairings for the weekend are Wiesemann/Marinkovikj, Bell/Vesikallio, Bodewes/Ramirez and Thompson/McNaughten.
