Men's Basketball Reveals Non-Conference Schedule

Home opener scheduled for Nov. 9
WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball announced the non-conference portion of its 2021-22 schedule on Monday, featuring six games inside the Charles E. Smith Center, a reunion with local foe Maryland and three games at the Naples Invitational.
Following an exhibition on Nov. 2 vs. Hood College, the Buff & Blue will officially open Head Coach Jamion Christian's third season on Tuesday, Nov. 9 by hosting the Saint Francis (Pa.) Red Flash for the first meeting between the programs since 2004.
A busy opening stretch continues with a three-game road trip spanning six days, starting at Maryland on Thursday, Nov. 11. The Terrapins and Colonials have not squared off since the 2013 BB&T Classic when Mo Creek famously knocked down a game-winning shot with 0.6 seconds remaining to give GW a 77-75 win.
The Colonials then head to the West Coast for a pair of contests with UC San Diego (Nov. 13) and Cal State Fullerton (Nov. 16). GW has never faced either program out of the Big West, but is back in California for the first time since 2013 when the Colonials went 2-1 as part of the Wooden Legacy, including wins against Miami and nationally-ranked Creighton.
Christian's squad will return home to meet its third straight first-time opponent in UMass Lowell on Friday, Nov. 19 before heading to the previously announced Naples Invitational from Nov. 22-24.
December brings four home games for the Buff & Blue, starting with Boston University visiting D.C. on Wednesday, Dec. 1. In 2019-20, GW and BU staged a thriller inside the Smith Center. GW completes a home-and-home series with a trip to Charlotte on Dec. 4 before welcoming local foes Coppin State (Dec. 8), Radford (Dec. 13) and Maryland Eastern Shore (Dec. 22) to round out the non-conference slate.
