Baseball’s Postseason Hopes Dashed at Dayton

Colonials drop both ends of doubleheader
Despite being the only team with a winning record to play all 24 games in the A-10 South Division, GW has been mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. With the two wins, the Flyers clinched a higher winning percentage and the second berth in the division.
Dayton 11, GW 4 (7) - The Flyers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and were able to fend off multiple GW rallies.
The Colonials had chances to get on the board throughout the game, but were limited to 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position in the game.
Eddie Micheletti brought home the first run on an RBI groundout in the second inning and Steve DiTomaso singled in a run in the fourth, but GW left the bags packed.
Dayton came back with two in the fourth that was countered by a two-run single in the sixth from Domenic Boselli. GW left the tying runs on and saw Dayton score five times in the sixth to pull away with the win.
Dayton 7, GW 4 (7) - Needing a victory, GW got on the board first with back-to-back singles from Noah Levin and Boselli in the third inning to take a 2-0 lead.
Jaret Edwards held the Flyers at bay until the fifth when an ill-timed error opened the floodgates. UD took the lead on a two-run single and capped off the frame with a three-run homer.
GW bounced back with two runs in the sixth on an Anthony Frechette RBI single and a wild pitch, but would get no closer.
The Colonials will now finish out the regular season on Saturday afternoon with a noon first pitch.
