Women's Tennis Set for Pair of Matches

GW to face Coppin State on Friday, JMU on Sunday
WASHINGTON-Â The George Washington women's tennis team is set for its first home match of the season when it hosts Coppin State on Friday at 2 p.m. GW will travel to James Madison on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match against the Dukes.Â
LAST TIME OUT:Â
GW fell to Navy, 5-2, last weekend in its season opener. First-year Stella Wiesemann secured a singles victory over the Midshipmen's Jillian Taggert (6-2, 6-3). Alexis Nelson clinched the second singles victory for GW, defeating her opponent 7-6, (7-5), 6-4.Â
ABOUT CSU:Â The Eagles sit at 0-2 on the season and are coming off a 0-7 loss at Lafayette on Saturday. Rookie Afruica Gentle has earned a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Week honors as well as one rookie of the week award. Teammate Iva Jankovic has earned one MEAC Player of the Week honor after making her CSU debut earlier this month.
ABOUT JMU: The Dukes are 2-0 on the season after shutting out Towson, 7-0, and topping ETSU, 4-2. In the first weekly Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) awards, JMU swept the honors with senior Jona Roka earning player of the week and senior Alexis Franco and sophomore Natalia Nikolopoulou were named doubles team of the week. Roka sits fourth all-time at JMU with 74 singles victories and second all-time in doubles victories with 73.
