GW welcomes Barbachano and Dy for next season
WASHINGTON – GW golf has added Manuel Barbachano and Jed Dy to its lineup for the 2022-23 season, Head Coach Chuck Scheinost has announced.
Barbachano and Dy recently signed NLIs to join GW next fall.Â
Manuel Barbachano
Ranked 98th overall in the class of 2022 and is the sixth-ranked international player for the class of 2022 on the Junior Golf Scoreboard, Barbachano tallied 37 victories as a junior golfer. He qualified for the PGA Tour World Wide Technology event at Mayakoba in November 2021, finishing in the top eight in stroke play to advance to match play, playing alongside the top seven professionals in Mexico. Barbachano's resume is highlighted by a 15th place finish at the 2021 Junior America's Cup and three top-10 showings at AJGA Tournaments. Barbachano is a dual citizen with citizenship in the United States and Mexico.
Scheinost on Barbachano:Â "We are very excited to have Manuel join our program. He is a great player with a tremendous iron and short game. He is a very consistent player, putting up solid numbers week in and week out. The thing I love most is his confidence and passion for the game."
Jed DyÂ
Dy has won over 100 tournaments since the age of five, including three Junior World Championships. In 2019-20, Dy was a member of the Philippine National Team and appeared in the golf documentary "The Short Game." Dy was also a member of the varsity basketball and volleyball teams. Originally from the Philippines, Dy is a dual citizen in his home country and the United States.
Scheinost on Dy:Â "Someone who has won over 100 tournaments since the age of five, it's not often that you find talent like Jed. He was one of the top juniors in the world before taking a break from the game to pursue basketball and men's volleyball. For the past two years, Jed has concentrated his efforts back on golf. He is an extremely hard worker and has tremendous power in his swing, which allows him to challenge courses in ways others cannot."
