Volleyball Falls at Fordham
BRONX, N.Y. – GW volleyball fell at Fordham on Friday, losing to the Rams in straight sets, 19-25, 11-25, 22-25.
Sarah Pintel led GW's offense with eight kills, while Bella Bowman tallied 14 digs on defense.
Set one saw six lead changes until the 19th point before Fordham outscored GW 6-1 to take the opening set. GW spread out its offense in the first set with six different student-athletes adding a kill to the score sheet.
The home team quickly got ahead in set two with a 6-3 edge over GW. Fordham then went on a 10-point scoring run that would eventually help the Rams take the two-set advantage. Thirteen of Fordham's 45 kills came in set two.
GW took the early 8-1 advantage in set three thanks to three kills from Pintel and a pair from Elizabeth Drelling. Despite 15 kills in set three from GW, a match-high 18 kills from the Fordham offense would help the home team cut into the GW lead. The Rams went on to outscore the Buff & Blue 10-1 in the closing stages of the match to help give the Rams their first conference victory of the season.
UP NEXT: GW will visit Rhode Island on Saturday with the first serve scheduled for 7 p.m.
