Women’s Tennis Heads To Blue & Gold Invitational

GW visits Annapolis, Md. for the second straight weekend
WASHINGTON – GW women's tennis will head to the Brigade Sports Complex in Annapolis, Md., this weekend to compete in the Blue & Gold Invitational, hosted by Navy.
LAST TIME OUT: At the ITA Atlantic Regionals last weekend, doubles pair Stella Wiesemann and Katarina Marinkovikj qualified for the ITA Super Regionals on Oct. 22-25. Playing as a pair for just the second tournament, the duo defeated opponents from Mount St. Mary's, Morgan State and Navy to advance to the finals of the doubles flight.
In singles play, Marinkovikj and Wiesemann both played into the round of 16 before falling to Maryland opponents. Alexandra Vesikallio also competed in singles, defeating Amelia Lawson 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation round.
FORMAT: The tournament will consist of two double flights and four single flights, with play beginning at noon on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
ACROSS THE NET: Along with GW and Navy, the seven-team field includes Connecticut, Maryland, George Mason, North Carolina-Wilmington and Seton Hall.
