Ty Sullivan joins the GW golf program after completing his freshman year at UNLV.
WASHINGTON- Head coach Chuck Scheinost has announced the addition of Ty Sullivan to the GW golf program.Â
Sullivan joins the Buff and Blue after completing his freshman year at UNLV.Â
"I'm very excited to have Ty join our program this spring," Scheinost said. "He is a tremendous player who brings a wealth of experience with him from playing for one of the top programs in the country." Â
While at UNLV, Sullivan won the Clark County Amateur Championship. In his first Southern Nevada Golf Association (SNGA) victory, Sullivan tallied 11 birdies and an eagle over the two days of play to win the Championship Division by a stroke.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, Sullivan is a graduate of Heritage Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. He picked up the sport in high school after being a competitive tennis player for nine years.
Despite his short golf career, Sullivan comes to GW with many tournament victories under his belt.Â
"He knows what it takes to win golf tournaments having won tournaments at both the junior and amateur levels," Scheinost said. "I believe he adds depth to our team and can make an immediate impact this spring."
In 2019, Sullivan won the individual title at the International Junior Golf Tour's Lowcountry's Shootout at Parris Island, sinking a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole to win by a stroke. He had another final-hole victory at the 2019 International Junior Golf Tour's (IJGT) Palmetto Classic, shooting a par to win by one.Â
In 2018, Sullivan won the Optimist Junior Players Golf Academy Open, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona Desert Mashie Spring Championship, the Phoenix Junior Open and the Bluffton Junior Open.Â
GW is set to open up play in February. An updated schedule will be available on gwsports.com soon.Â
