Golf in Fourth after Day 1 of A-10 Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. -Â GW golf is 10 shots off the lead after Day 1 of the Atlantic 10 Championship, shooting a 7-over 295 to sit alone in fourth place at the Evermore Resort.
Maxime Lam led the charge for George Washington, sitting in a tie for third individually with a 2-under 70. Lam started the day with a birdie on the first and made his move on the back nine with birdies on 11, 13 and 14 to get as low as 3-under before bogeying 16.
Manuel Barbachano carded six birdies on the day and was in the lead during his front nine before an untimely eight on the par-5 ninth brought him back to even par. He rebounded with birdies on 13, 14 and 16 before a double bogey on 17 left him four shots off the individual lead held by VCU's Carson Looney.
Philippe Thorin (+3, 75), Adam Bencik (+7, 79) and Evan Eichenlaub (+7, 79) rounded out the individual scores for the Buff & Blue.
VCU sits atop the team leaderboard after a 3-under 285, one shot ahead of George Mason (-2, 286) and eight clear of Dayton (+5, 293).Â
Action resumes on Tuesday with GW teeing off on Hole #1 at 7:30 a.m. with Rhode Island and Richmond.
