Four Colonials earn individual accolades
WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's tennis squad earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team recognition for the 2019-20 season. Additionally, Melis Bayraktaroglu, Katarina Mrainkovikj, Lara McNaughten and Alexandra Vesikallio achieved ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
"I am extremely proud of this team," said head coach Torrie Browning. "This past spring semester definitely had its challenges. However, academics remained a high priority with this team, and they should be honored as such. They did a great job as they always do."
The Colonials earn ITA Academic Team honors for the ninth consecutive season after posting a team GPA of 3.69 during the 2019-20 academic year.
The All-Academic Team award is presented to any ITA program that has a cumulative grade-point average of 3.20 or above. Individually, student-athletes must have a GPA of at least 3.50 for the academic year to qualify for the Scholar-Athlete award.
