Sailing Finishes Sixth at Prosser Trophy

The Colonials came up short in their Team Racing Conference Championship
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Looking for a top-four finish that would have earned them a spot in the Team Race National Championship for the second consecutive year, the GW sailing team came up short with a sixth-place showing at the Prosser Trophy last weekend.
In the head-to-head format, the Colonials compiled a 5-9 overall record as racing was limited to just two round-robins. GW was in contention for a top-four finish after a 3-4 start but fell to sixth place by going 2-5 in the second round-robin.
Georgetown claimed first place with a 12-2 mark, while Navy (11-3), Hobart & William Smith (8-6) and Fordham (6-8) secured the three remaining spots at nationals.
"It was a really tough event and definitely tough for the seniors," said head coach Billy Martin. "We just had a bad day. Now we need to refocus, move on and finish the season strong from here."
The Colonials return to action with a pair of regattas next weekend, playing host to the GW Women's Invite while also traveling to the Navy Spring Coed.
