Sailing Finishes Tenth at Coed National Championships
ANNAPOLIS - The GW sailing team earned tenth overall at the ICSA Coed National Championships on Tuesday to close out the 2021 season.
The Buff and Blue wrapped the two-day regatta with a total of 333 points across the two divisions. GW finished 14th overall in the A Division and earned 6th place in the B Division.
"In the A Division, we had Matt Logue and Allison Forsyth making their first-ever nationals appearance," Head Coach Billy Martin said. "They performed really well, sailed with a lot of confidence and continued to be a really strong boat for us," said Martin. "I am looking forward to seeing what they will do for the team in the future."
"Boat B looked great as well," said Martin. "We started with Soenke Jordan and Ruby Gordon, who have both sailed so well this entire season and are the main reason we qualified for nationals in the first place."
"Michael Ehnot and Chiara Perotti Correa jumped in as alternates in the B Division," said Martin. "They have been looking strong as a new pairing that we have been working on this postseason. They locked in and really showed some elite-level boat speed and performed great."
"I appreciate all four of the sailors in the B Division who worked together as a team to get really good scores for us and help us finish tenth," said Martin.
