Sailing Finishes Weekend at MAISA Qualifiers

Women qualify for a trip to nationals in May
St. Mary's Md. - GW sailing competed in the MAISA Qualifiers at St. Mary's over the weekend.
The women placed fourth overall to earn a spot at nationals on May 19-20 at Navy. In Saturday's racing, Colonials A, led by Chiara Perotti Correa and crewed by Allison Forsyth, finished fourth. Colonials B, featuring Sarah Hardee crewed by Taylor Milefchik and Ruby Gordon, placed ninth overall.
Despite tricky race conditions, GW held off for fourth overall in Sunday's coed MAISA qualifiers.
"It wasn't really the result we wanted," Head Coach Billy Martin said. "But I'm proud of all of the work the team put into this season," said Martin.
While the coed team doesn't have a berth for nationals, they will be in the running for an at-large bid and will await those announcements.
GW will make the trip to Old Dominion next weekend for the MAISA Team Racing qualifiers. The top three teams will represent the conference at nationals in June.
