Logan Lowe led GW with his fifth top-10 finish of the season
HOUSTON – The GW golf team wrapped up play in its final regular season event on Tuesday afternoon with a tied-for-seventh-place finish at the Bayou City Collegiate Classic at Golfcrest Country Club.
The Colonials got off to a strong start in 36 holes of play on Monday, shooting 291 (+3) and 290 (+2) as a team to sit in second place among the 14-team field. Texas native Adrian Castagnola (-2), senior Logan Lowe (-1) and first-year Logan Othmer (+1) led the charge and were all in the top-20 after day one.
Lowe kept it going on Tuesday with a round of 71 to finish tied for seventh, marking his fifth top-10 in nine stroke-play tournaments this season. As a team, GW shot 304 to slip down the leaderboard. Sam Houston State, one of three local schools playing host to the tournament, claimed the team title with a 2-under 862, while Collin Clark of UT-San Antonio was individual medalist with a 5-under 211.
The reigning Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Year, Lowe will lead GW into the conference championship in fine form with a 71.32 scoring average. He'll be at a familiar venue in Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, Fla., which has played host to the A-10 Championship each year of the senior's storied career. Play gets underway on April 26 and concludes April 28.
