Sailing Chases Dellenbaugh Trophy this Weekend

The regatta is one of the most competitive women’s fleets of the season
SETTING SAIL: GW sailing takes a short hiatus from Team Racing this weekend, as the ninth-ranked women's team heads to Providence, R.I., to compete for the Dellenbaugh Trophy at Brown University.

Considered one of the most competitive women's regattas of the season, the Dellenbaugh features an 18-team interconference field made up of most of the top teams in the nation. Twelve of the top-20 ranked women's fleets will be in competition, including six in the top-10: No. 1 Yale, No. 3 Brown, No. 5 Cornell, No. 7 MIT, No. 8 Harvard and No. 9 GW.

LINEUP: The Colonials have an experienced lineup with seniors Riley Legault and Alexandra Fayer leading the charge in A Division. That duo led the way for GW at the Dellenbaugh last season, finishing fifth in B Division. A pair of juniors in Aitana Mendiguren and Sarah Noyes will start in B Division while a deep bench will be on shore.

ON DECK: GW returns to Team Racing April 6-7 as the Colonials head to the Prosser Trophy, which serves as the conference championship and qualifier for the team racing national championship. Last season the Colonials finished second at the event to qualify for nationals for the first time in program history.
