DAVIDSON, N.C. – In its second road contest of the weekend, the George Washington lacrosse team came out on top, 12-11, in a back-and-forth offensive battle with Davidson on Sunday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The Wildcats answered back with a trio of tallies, but GW was able to match the hosts' scoring spree with three of their own from Katie Quinn, Ioanna Mantzouratos, and Kali Benvenuto. Davidson found the back of the net once more at the 5:50 mark, while the Colonials continued to press on attack and scored three more goals to head into the second half with a two goal advantage (7-5).
GW continued its momentum from the game's first stanza, with Quinn converting from the free position. The Wildcats pushed back with three straight goals, but the Colonials were able to halt their offensive effort with a tally from Morgan McDonnell. Davidson continued to press and was able to tie it at nine with 19:16 to play before taking their first lead since the 25 minute mark in the first half, 10-9. GW battled back and was able to tie it at 11 at the 6:46 mark before reestablishing their lead with another tally from Quinn. The Colonials back line was able to stifle the Wildcats offense for the remaining five minutes to pull away with the 12-11 victory.
