Lacrosse to Host Pair of A-10 Opponents

Colonials face St. Bonaventure on Friday, Richmond on Sunday
DRAWING FIRST: After opening conference play with back-to-back contests on the road, the George Washington lacrosse team is set to return home for a pair of A-10 games this weekend. The Colonials will first welcome St. Bonaventure to the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus on Friday at 2 p.m. before hosting Richmond on Sunday at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: In its second road game of the weekend, GW came out on top, 12-11, in a back-and-forth battle with Davidson on Sunday afternoon. GW held a narrow edge in caused turnovers (7-6) and ground balls (17-16), while the Wildcats held an advantage in shots (34-26) and draw controls (18-7).
QUINN FOR THE WIN: Junior midfielder Katie Quinn scored a game-high four goals on Sunday, the second time she has done so this season. With the score knotted at 11 with 6:46 to play, Quinn was able to give the Colonials the one-goal advantage after taking a feed from Aidan Cage and shooting the ball into the back of the net. The Buff and Blue back line was able to stifle the Wildcats offense for the remaining five minutes to pull away with the 12-11 victory.
JUNIOR JUMP: The junior trio of Morgan McDonnell, Christine Weber and Aidan Cage all have seen an offensive uptick in their junior campaigns. McDonnell has already matched her goal total from last season and ranks tied for third on the team with eight goals, nine assists, and 17 points. Weber follows closely behind in fourth with 16 points (12g, 4a) after totaling just 13 (7g, 6a) in 15 games in 2018. Cage has also topped her point total from last season (12) and has found the back of the net 11 times so far in 2019 while adding four helpers.
ABOUT ST. BONAVENTURE: The Bonnies (1-9) have had a tough start to their 2019 campaign and fell to Saint Joseph's, 17-4, and Richmond, 19-3, to open A-10 play over the weekend. St. Bonaventure's one victory came over Kent State, 18-10, on March 3.
ABOUT RICHMOND: The Spiders sit at 8-2 on the season and entered conference action on a five-game win streak before falling to George Mason in overtime, 14-13, on Friday. Richmond bounced back on Sunday with a dominant 19-3 victory over St. Bonaventure.
